Approved Vendor Guidelines

The guidelines below are for approved vendors. To apply to be a vendor at this year's Pear Fair, please go here instead.

Location and Parking

The event will be held outdoors on the corner of 22nd and College Streets, on the Northeast corner of Cedar Falls Municipal Parking Lot G. Limited lot parking and plenty of free street parking is available nearby.

Vendor Booths and Setup

Vendors may begin setting up their booths no sooner than 10:00am (one hour prior to the event start time). Vendors are encouraged to bring displays and banners to promote their merchandise.

Two large tents (20’ x 40’) will be provided for shelter and space will be divided evenly among all vendors. Each vendor will be provided with one table (6’ X 2½’) and 2 chairs. Vendors may also bring their own chairs if they prefer. We ask that you do not bring additional tables at this time.

Vendors are required to stay for the duration of the event. Someone must be present at your booth at all times from 11:00am to 5:00pm. We suggest bringing a friend to help run your table so you may leave to take a break. Please do not leave a child to supervise your booth alone. We are not responsible for loss or damage to your booth or your merchandise, so please don’t leave it unattended.

Vendor Fees

Approved vendors are responsible for paying a non-refundable vendor fee of $80.00. This fee helps to cover the cost of Pear Fair facilities and equipment provided for vendors, such as our big tents, tables, and chairs.

Please send payments via PayPal to barb@mohairpear.com. If you do not have a Paypal account, you may mail or deliver a check or money order to Mohair Pear. Please send your payment to: Mohair Pear LTD. 2209 College St. Cedar Falls, IA 50613. Please include a note that your payment is a vendor fee for the Pear Fair.

Payment must be received on or before Sept. 10th, 2023. If you are approved as a vendor but your payment is not received by Sept. 10th, your spot will be forfeited. The $80.00 vendor fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable for any reason, including being unable to attend day-of. After you've been approved, pay your vendor fee here.

Vendor Profits and Taxes

Vendors will retain 100% of their profits from items sold at the Pear Fair. Mohair Pear does not take a percentage of sales at this time.

All vendors will be responsible for accounting all sales tax on items sold. We suggest obtaining a sales tax permit number. For more information, please visit: https://www.tax-id-bureau.com/iowa-sales-tax-permit/

We suggest bringing at least $50.00 in small bills and coins to provide change for your customers. We will not be able to supply you with change. In addition, card readers like Square and PayPal are becoming increasingly popular, and we recommend you come prepared to accept credit cards.

Prohibited Items

Vendors may only sell original handmade items. Selling pre-made or resale items, such as vintage items, that have not been hand altered is prohibited. This rule is strictly enforced.

Media and Promotion

We request that all vendors please email us a minimum of six high-resolution, unfiltered images of their work. It's a good idea to send bright and clean images with a nice background, typically solid colors work best. Please send these in immediately after you are approved as a vendor. Additionally, follow us on Instagram, like us on Facebook, and feel free to share and invite friends and family to the official event! We will also send you some promotional graphics to use and share on your socials and websites after you've been approved.

Before You Go

We encourage vendors to explore the Pear Fair and visit other vendor booths throughout the event. Check out our record swap and be sure to grab something to eat and drink from our food vendors as well. And please stop into Mohair Pear before you go! Our staff would love to meet you and show you around.
